Help, my disc is stuckUpdated 16 hours ago

The first few times you use your femdisc may feel unfamiliar and tricky - that's completely normal! It can take a few cycles to get the hang of removing it. But don't worry: the vagina is like a dead end. Nothing can get lost.

Detailed tips for taking it out

Relax

Try to stay as calm and relaxed as possible. Tensing up can make it harder to grip the disc. Breathing deeply in and out helps relax your pelvic floor 🌬️

The right sitting position

Sit on the toilet and rest your feet slightly raised (e.g. on a small stool).
Keep your knees fairly close together and place your feet about shoulder-width apart.

Lean forward

Bend forward with your upper body. Breathe in slowly and out even more slowly. When your core relaxes, your pelvic floor relaxes too – which makes the disc easier to remove.

Change position

If your cervix sits higher or you're struggling to reach the disc, it often helps to squat down. You can try this in the shower, for example 🚿

Use your pelvic floor

Bear down gently, as if you were having a bowel movement 💩 This moves the disc down a little and makes it easier to reach.

Get a better grip

If the disc is too slippery, a piece of toilet paper can help you get more grip.

Here's how to take the disc out

  • Hook a finger under the rim of the disc and slowly pull it down.

or

  • Pinch the rim of the disc or the tab between your thumb and index finger and slowly pull it out

If these tips aren't helping right now, it's best to wait 30 minutes, relax, and then try again 💛
