How do I get odors out of my femdisc?Updated 16 hours ago
Sometimes your menstrual disc can smell unpleasant. That's because during your period you don't just shed blood, but also bacteria, and blood contains protein and iron. The disc can pick up the smell of these elements, and that can lead to odors.
Our best tips against odors on your femdisc:
1. Rinse with cold water
After emptying your femdisc, always rinse it with cold water first. Warm or hot water can actually „set“ staining or odors.
2. Clean gently
Next, clean the disc with the femdisc foam cleanser and warm water. Feel free to use a soft toothbrush for a thorough clean, too.
3. Let the sun do its work
For light staining, a little indirect sunlight can help. Set the disc somewhere bright for a few days – that often helps with odors ☀️
4. Use a stain remover
If you want your disc to smell and look like new again, we developed our femdisc stain remover for exactly that:

Here's how to use it:
Drop a stain-remover tab into a heat-resistant container with boiling water. Once the tab has fully dissolved, place the femdisc inside.
Let it soak for 6–8 hours. Then take the disc out and rinse it thoroughly with water 💧
Once it's dry, your femdisc is clean again and ready for its next use ✨
Please avoid soaking it too often or for too long, though, since that can wear down the material over time – especially if you exceed the recommended soaking time.
If your femdisc has a noticeable smell that lingers even after cleaning, it could point to a vaginal infection. In that case, it's best to see a doctor just to be safe 💛
